Day 2: Technology-Powered Eco-Workshops

On Tuesday, our international partners rolled up their sleeves for an exciting full day of hands-on ecological workshops, expertly led by SP8 Primary School teachers. Drawing from Poland's innovative "Laboratoria Przyszłości" program, we deployed state-of-the-art equipment including VR glasses, embroidery machines, sewing tools, Ozobots, and 3D pens – all purchased to equip schools with future-ready STEM skills.

VR Immersion into Environmental Crises
Participants donned VR glasses for gripping simulations of real-world pollution: plastic waste choking ocean life, toxic particles filling city skies. These eye-opening experiences sparked lively discussions about urgent solutions, from beach cleanups to policy changes, helping everyone grasp the human impact on nature.

Ozobots Master Waste Sorting
Tiny programmable Ozobots zipped along custom-drawn paths mimicking recycling routes. Using simple color codes, partners coded the robots to sort plastics, paper, and organics while avoiding "landfill" zones. This playful STEAM activity turned abstract waste management into concrete, actionable skills perfect for classroom use.

Creative Upcycling with 3D Pens and Sewing
The real magic happened in upcycling stations: fabric scraps from old clothes became heart-shaped eco-crafts via embroidery machines and sewing tools, while 3D pens crafted miniature models of recycling bins and ocean cleanup devices. Partners left with ready-to-use prototypes – functional, beautiful, and fully replicable in their home schools.

Renewable Energy Showcase
Midday brought an outdoor tour of SP8's heat pumps and photovoltaic panels. Guests marveled at their zero-emission operation: no exhaust fumes, drastically reduced greenhouse gases, cleaner school air, and lower energy bills. This practical demo provided a clear blueprint for schools worldwide transitioning to renewable energy sources (RES), aligning perfectly with EU green goals.

Day's Impact
By evening, partners buzzed with inspiration – equipped not just with ideas, but physical tools and lesson plans to implement immediately. These workshops bridged technology, ecology, and international collaboration, strengthening our partnership while proving Polish schools lead in sustainable STEAM education.

Day 3: Historical Reflection and Sustainability Lessons

Wednesday took our partners on a moving journey to the State Museum at Majdanek, one of Europe's best-preserved WWII concentration camps. The guided tour walked them through haunting original structures – barracks, gas chambers, crematoria, and the Mausoleum with victims' ashes – sharing survivor stories that touch the heart.

Deep connections formed between past atrocities and today's environmental crises. Partners reflected on how wartime resource waste mirrors modern problems like polluted oceans and destroyed forests, showing we must learn from history to protect our planet.

Back at SP8 school, everyone gathered in the library for heartfelt discussions. Partners shared their countries' eco-histories –  and worked together on project timelines linking memory to green action.

Shared Polish hospitality brought us together for a thoughtful dinner at a traditional Góralska restaurant in Lublin. Over hearty dishes like żurek soup, pierogi dumplings, and oscypek cheese platters, we spent time in quiet reflection and meaningful discussions about the day's lessons.

Lasting impact: Nearly all partners felt a stronger commitment to sustainability. The day was inclusive for everyone, weaving human rights with eco-responsibility into our project's heart.

History and tradition inspire a greener future. 🌍🕊️🍲

Day 4: Nature's Lessons at the Apiary and Farm

Thursday immersed our partners in the gentle hum of nature at the "Ulik" Apiary and Educational Farmstead in Mokrelipie, near Zamość. Here, the Śliczniak family – beekeepers for over 40 years – shared their wandering apiary secrets, showcasing time-honored methods of beekeeping and medicinal plant cultivation using natural fertilizers and organic practices.

Sweet discoveries unfolded as guests tasted eight fresh honey varieties straight from the hives: phacelia, dandelion, lime, buckwheat, acacia, honeydew, heather, and unique "Piękny Jaś" bean flower honey – a Polish traditional product. They wandered a fascinating skansen of 20 antique beehives, learning how these traditions fight modern biodiversity loss and support pollinators.

Hands-on farm exploration included a peaceful stroll through animal enclosures, observing bee-friendly habitats and discussing circular farming. A farm-to-table lunch featured organic meals from on-site produce, connecting everyone to the land's bounty.

Festive farewell celebration brought partners from Italy, Turkey, Belgium, and Poland together for a low-waste dinner of traditional Polish cuisine.
